The 2014 Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron has a very earthy, undergrowth-scented bouquet that is quite Graves-like in style. I would have liked a little more vivacity and brightness here. The palate is much better with crisp tannin, fresh blackberry, cedar and tobacco notes with fine structure on the finish. I suspect that the aromatics will sort themselves out with a couple of years in bottle. Well-made, but needs time. Tasted September 2016.
