A practitioner of extended cold macerations, Charmail’s 2011 reveals a dense ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of licorice and black currants, medium body and elevated tannins for the amount of fruit. However, it is a good effort in this tough vintage and can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. The final blend was 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot that came in at 13.4% alcohol.
