The 2014 Latour-Martillac Blanc builds upon its promise en primeur, offering succinct aromas of citrus fruit, linseed and a touch of jasmine. I appreciate the detail and the focus of this white Pessac. The palate is fresh and vibrant with really lip-smacking salinity on the entry, a wine determined to grab your attention straight from the off. And why not when it is this good? Brimming with tension and vivacity, it fans out gloriously towards the finish. One of the best white wines from this estate in recent years―bravo!

The Ch?teau Latour-Martillac Blanc 2014 has voluminous nose: tinned pineapple intermingling with white peach and citrus aromas, but perhaps missing the killer delineation of its peers at this point. The palate is well balanced with a dab of sour lemon on the entry. It gently builds in the mouth, mustering more and more precision until the finish that delivers lemongrass mixed with orange zest notes. This will be fascinating to revisit after bottling. It does not quite know what it wants to do at the moment hence my conservative score, however it may evolve into a very fine white Pessac-L?ognan that will exceed my score.
