The 1988 Calon-Segur outshines both wines from the more heralded vintages of 1989 and 1990. Deeply colored, superbly balanced, rich and full bodied, it appears to be a worthy candidate for another 15-20 years of longevity. It is a classic example of this chateau's wine - cedary, very fragrant, with plenty of sweet red and black currant fruit. I should also note that it is surprisingly powerful for the vintage. It gets my nod as the finest Calon-Segur between 1982 and 1995.

1998年のカロン＝セギュールは、より喧伝された1989年や1990年ヴィンテージより輝いているワインだ。深みのある色をしており、卓越しているといえるほどにバランスが良く、りっちで、ふるぼでぃ、あと15年は寿命を持っていそうな価値ある候補だ。このシャトーの古典的な例で、このシャトーらしく、西洋杉のようで、非常にかぐわしく、土っぽい、甘いレッドカラントやブラックカラントの果実味がたっぷりある。このヴィンテージとしては驚くほど力強いワインである事にも注記しておくべきだろう。1982?1995年までで最上のカロン＝セギュールであると私が太鼓判を押そう。
